China Economic Update for 2009
According to a preliminary estimation by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the gross domestic product (GDP) for the year 2009 was 33,535.3 billion Yuan, up by 8.7 percent at comparable prices or 0.9 percent lower than that in the previous year. The total exports in 2009 were 1201.67 billion US dollars, dropping by 16.0 percent from a year earlier. The imports were 1005.6 billion US dollars, reducing by 11.2 percent year-on-year. The trade surplus was 196.07 billion USD, decreasing by 34.2 percent.
